About Our Chapter

On May 2nd, 2015, the California Xi Chapter of Pi Beta Phi was founded at the University of San Diego. Over the past three years, our chapter has grown and flourished. We currently have over 100 active members who are involved in a wide range of clubs and activities on campus in addition to being Pi Phis!

FRATERNITY HERITAGE

One hundred and fifty one years ago Pi Beta Phi was founded in 1867 by twelve Monmouth College collegiate women under the name of I.C Sorosis. Inspired by the vision of a secret society tethered by bonds of friendship and strengthened by the pursuit of personal development, they committed themselves to enriching the lives of others through service and fostering leadership amongst their members. Courageous in their pursuits, they aspired to build the foundation for a thriving organization at a time when only five state universities admitted women. The founders of Pi Beta Phi created the fraternity to cultivate sincere friendship, establish real-life objectives, and promote happiness.
